Mackintosh style hardwood coat rail or bathroom rail.
Called the Mackintosh hardwood coat rail, because inspiration was taken directly from the designs of Charles Rennie Mackintosh. Although he didn’t actually design this actual coat rail, Nevertheless I like to think that had he lived today, he would have indeed answered the more diverse needs of modern life with a very similar design.
Made from solid seasoned Beech, with 5 chromed cast iron hooks and featuring Mackintosh’s signature four square motive at each end. Each motive comprises of four hand shaped and fitted square pegs, made from American Black Walnut. Each peg has a cushion shaped face, set slightly proud of the surface.
This hardwood coat rail is equally at home in the hallway, bedroom, or bathroom, in fact anywhere there is a clothes hanging need. The simple and timelessness lines of the design and neutral colour (timber is actually lighter than depicted in the photo) make it compatible with any room theme or colour scheme. This together with other ecologically friendly practices makes their carbon footprint as small as I can get it at the moment; still working on improving that.
The back board of the 5 Hook model (shown) is 91.4 cm (36″) long. 12 cm (4 3/4″) wide. 1.9 cm (3/4″) thick.
The back board of the 4 Hook Rail is 75 cm (30″) long. 12 cm (4 3/4″) wide. 1.9 cm (3/4″) thick.
The back board of the 3 Hook Rail is 60 cm (24″) long. 12 cm (4 3/4″) wide. 1.9 cm (3/4″) thick.
